FAQS

These are a few questions we have been asked:

Q: What type of music do you play? Do you play any modern songs?

A: We primarily concentrate on tried and tested songs from throughout the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's. That means Rock 'n' Roll, Pop, Blues, Power Ballads, Soft Rock. Take a look at our repertoire for more details. We choose songs we know will get an audience dancing. We generally choose our set-lists based upon past experience at a particular venue. Some clubs/pubs prefer a mixture of fast/slow songs. Other venues don't like too many slow songs and want to rock the night away! As to modern music, if you're after a Justin Beiber song or some thrash-punk-metal, then I'm afraid you're out of luck.

Q: How long do you need to set up and pack away?

A: Generally we can set up in about an hour. For larger gigs we like to do additional sound checks before the performance, but in pubs and small clubs that's sometimes impractical. We can pack away in about 30 minutes.

Q: Do you use professional sound equipment?

A: Absolutely. We use only top quality HK speakers powered by a professional 20 channel powered mixer/desk. We have the ability to push out 800W which is more than ample for clubs and pubs. For larger venues we add powered monitors into the system, which allows us to increase the power to our front-of-house speakers to 1.6kW. Our backline instrument amps are mainly Peavy and Marshall. We invest a significant amount of time and money in making sure our gear sounds great.

Q: Are you fully insured?

A: Yes, we have £5,000,000 worth of public liablity insurance, and all of our equipment is PAT tested to the latest goverment regulations.

Q: Why do you charge more for private parties than you do for clubs and pubs?

A: Our fees are based on a number of factors. The truth is, private parties are generally a one-off gig, and we have an arrangement with clubs that we play for a reduced amount in exchange for a number of bookings throughout the year. Also, at a private party we'll be performing to a lot more people than in a club or pub. Acts like ourselves generally charge more depending on the size of the expected audience. For example, you wouldn't expect us to charge the same for a local pub as a gig at the Wembley Stadium. As a guide, club bookings start from around £250, whereas private parties start from around £450.

Q: How long have you been together?

A: Dave and Carol are original members of a band called Memory Layne. They formed the band in 2005. Martyn joined the band in 2006, and Mark joined in the following year. The band's name changed to Back In Time in 2009 when Ray joined us. In our current line up, we've been together since 2009. All our band members have had long careers in music, please see our band section for more details.
